Christmas Schedule 2022

Lee Greens staff, our farmers and volunteers will be taking a short break over Christmas and New Year. This means there will be no bag to collect on 29th December.

Instead, you will receive a Bumper Christmas Bag on 22nd for which you will be charged double price. Both veg and fruit bags will be Bumper Bags. See below FAQ on our Bumper Bags. This will be our 6th year of delivering Bumper bags and many of you know how full, fresh and colourful they are!

We will not be checking emails between Christmas day and New Year’s day but you can still make changes to future deliveries by logging into the website. We will respond to emails on or after Tuesday 3rd Jan.

Below is a summary of dates and deadlines followed by FAQs – please read as some deadlines have changed for Christmas.

Dates to note:

Thursday 24th Nov (10am) - register holidays before 10am so that your December payment is amended accordingly. See FAQs below about holiday booking for the Bumper Bags.

Wednesday 14th Dec (midday) - last day to register holiday for the Bumper Bag on 22nd Dec by logging into your account on the website (this is an early deadline). Email us to change or upgrade your bag to an even bigger bumper bag or perhaps add a fruit bag for Christmas? You can also email us to donate your Bumper Bag to charity and we will deliver your bag to the AFRIL Foodbank or The Whitefoot and Downham Project Foodbank.

Christmas is a very difficult time for refugee families and those in need in the borough, so donated bags are in higher demand and much appreciated. Every year, we were delighted to donate many food bags plus our surpluses to charity. We know that our customer donations combined with Lee Greens’ regular surplus donations make an enormous difference to our neighbours.

If you wish to buy an additional Bumper veg and/or fruit bag to help those families, email us and we can arrange this for you. You will be charged for your Bumper bag(s) and also for the donated Bumper bag.

Thursday 15th Dec - collect your regular sized bag as normal.

Tuesday 20th Dec (midday) - last day to email us to donate your Bumper Bag to charity (it's too late to cancel at this point, as we've already ordered the veg, so you will be charged).

Thursday 22nd Dec - collect your Bumper veg and fruit Bag (if ordered) from your usual pick up point. The tag colour will be the same as your usual bag. Check pick up times as some pick up points may vary their Christmas opening and closing times or they might possibly be closed the following day. We recommend you collect your bag as soon as possible. We will email you with time changes as and when we hear from the pick up points. However, they may not inform us as it's a busy time of the year.

Friday 23rd Dec - Lee Greens closes at end of business day, please report any issues by 5pm.

Wednesday 28th Dec (10am) – Deadline for changes to your first January bag (note this is an early deadline).

Thursday 29th Dec - NO DELIVERIES.

Tuesday 3rd Jan - Lee Greens office opens.

Thursday 5th Jan - Collect first veg and fruit Bag of 2023.

FAQ's

What is the Bumper Bag?
The Lee Greens Bumper Bags are double value bags; you will receive a larger quantity of vegetables than your usual bag. Your fruit bag will be a bumper bag too! The bags will be the value of two bags into one to help you get through the holiday season. There will be an extra quantity of most items, plus additional festive items and higher value items. Collect your bag with the usual coloured tag as you would normally.

How will I be charged for the Bumper Bag?
You will be charged double and payment will be taken in advance at the start of December. Your statement will show a single charge for a Bumper Bag and you will only receive ONE Bumper Bag on 22nd December. There will be no bag on 29th December.

What fruit and veg can we expect in the Bumper Bag on the 22nd?
A variety of festive possibilities, you will find some of the following.... Carrots, Onions, Parsnips, Roasting Potatoes (in the potato bags), Sweet Potatoes, Leafy Greens, Red Cabbage, Brussels Sprouts, Broccoli or Cauliflower, Mushrooms, a Herb and Lemons.

Fruit bag customers can expect apples, pears, oranges, kiwi, maybe bananas and possibly pomegranates.

What if I want a normal size bag on 22nd?
Unfortunately we are not able to make different bags available because it's a very busy packing day for us and we don't want to risk the wrong bags going to the wrong people. We expect many items in the bags to store well so you can continue to use them throughout the festive period. If you really don't need a bag then you can book holiday or donate your bag to charity (see above).

I usually get a "no potatoes" bag but I definitely want some roast potatoes for my Christmas dinner. What should I do?
If this is a one-off change then you should email us by midday on 14th December, we will revert your bag back for 5th January. If you wish to change your regular bag from 5th January let us know.

Can I upgrade my Bumper Bag?
If you want to upgrade your Bumper Bag email us by midday on 14th December and we will do that for you and revert your bag to your usual bag for January 5th.

I would like to suspend my bag over Christmas, what are my options?
1. Donate your bag to charity - email [email protected] by midnight on Tuesday 20th December.
2. Register holiday for 22nd December bag via your online account by midday on Wednesday 14th December.

If you register your December holiday dates by 24th November you won't be charged for those dates when the December payment is taken. If you miss the November deadline to book holiday, don't worry, the holiday amount will be credited against your January payment (provided you suspended the bag before the 14th December midday deadline).

Will there be a bag on 29th December?
No, the last bag of 2022 will be on 22nd December.

What happens if I need to suspend my bag after 14th December?
You will still be charged for the Bumper Bag, so please ask a friend or family member to collect your bag so it is not wasted. Alternatively, please email us by 20th December at [email protected] and we can arrange for your bag to go to charity.

I registered my holiday after 24th November so I have already been charged for the Bumper Bag. What happens?
You can still register a holiday for 22nd December by midday 14th December, your Lee Greens account will be in credit and January's payment will be lower. After 14th December you will be charged as we will have purchased the veg and fruit for your bag(s).
